Will seek fresh mandate from people: JD-U

New Delhi, May 17 (IANS): The Janata Dal-United (JD-U) will again seek people's mandate in Bihar, a party official said Saturday after Nitish Kumar resigned as the chief minister.

"He (Nitish Kumar) has done a good thing. We will again go to the people and seek a fresh mandate," JD-U spokesperson K.C. Tyagi told IANS on phone.

He said his party is confident of a victory.

"Here (in Bihar), the people said (Narendra) Modi in Delhi, and Nitish Kumar in Bihar," said Tyagi.

He, however, did not respond to a query on whether the JD-U would forge an alliance with Bharatiya Janata Party again.

Nitish Kumar submitted his resignation to Bihar Governor D.Y. Patil earlier in the day.
