Mangalore, Jul 3: The first additional sessions court here on Friday June 30, sentenced eight persons to five years rigorous imprisonment, who were involved in four cases of dacoity in 2003.
The accused are S Madhu, Babu alias Electrical Babu, Mohammed Ali from Moodbidri, H Mayyadi alias Mailari from Bhadravathi, Noori alias Soori from Shimoga, , Santosh alias Santhu and Nagaraj alias Baban from Shimoga and Ravikumar from Davanagere.
The accused, in January, had robbed Shiekh Mohammed’s house and decamped with Rs 1.30 lac and 118 sovereigns of gold. In July, they robbed Abdul Razak’s house, from where they stole Rs 20,000 and 85 sovereigns of gold. In August, they stole Rs 5,000 and 127 grams of gold from Veronica D’ Souza’s house in Belwai and in September at Badaga Mijar, they robbed the houses of Abdul Rehman and his brother decamping with Rs 1,000 and 38 grams of gold.
Coincidentally, all dacoities took places in the houses of NRIs.
