London, Jul 4: Colombian singer Shakira reached the top of the British pop charts for the first time with her new single ''Hips Don't Lie''. The collaboration with Haitian-American rapper Wyclef Jean has already topped the US Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, thanks largely to Internet download sales, the release said.

Shakira has enjoyed several top five singles in Britain, including the worldwide hit ''Whenever, Wherever'', but has never before had a UK number one single. She knocked Canadian pop star Nelly Furtado's ''Maneater'' off the top spot after three weeks, according to chart compiler, the Official UK Charts Company.

American group The Pussycat Dolls climbed eight places to number three with ''Buttons'', featuring rapper Snoop Dogg. Scottish singer Sandi Thom slipped one spot to fourth with ''I wish I was a Punk Rocker''. American singer Ne-Yo's ''Sexy Love'' shot up to fifth place from 21st, while Welsh band The Automatic slipped one to sixth with ''Monster''.

Brighton rock band The Kooks rose to seventh with ''She Moves in Her Own Way'', while a version of ''Mas Que Nada'' by Brazil's Sergio Mendes, with the Black Eyed Peas, was at number eight. Danish dance duo Infernal's ''From Paris to Berlin'' fell to ninth and Devon rock band Muse completed the top 10 with ''Supermassive Black Hole''.In the album charts, Welsh rockers Lostprophets entered the top 10 at number one with ''Liberation Transmission''.
