India bats for normalcy in Thailand


New Delhi, May 21 (IANS): India's external affairs ministry Wednesday expressed hope that normalcy returns in Thailand.

"We have noted the recent developments in Thailand. We hope the people of Thailand resolve the political situation peacefully through dialogue and uphold the rule of law. As a friendly neighbour, we support the restoration of normalcy in Thailand," Syed Akbaruddin, official spokesperson of the ministry of external affairs, said.

The military in Thailand Tuesday issued martial law in the country.
