Mangalore: Dr H V Parshwanath, the former deputy commissioner had on May 10 passed an order to detain notorious Shabari alias Shabarinath under Goonda Act (Karnataka Prevention of Dangerous Activities of Drug Offenders, Gamblers, Goondas, Immoral Traffic Offenders and Slum Grabbers Act 1985). The order was based on the report of district SP B Dayananda and was executed on May 10 6 by the Anti -rowdy Squad and the detainee was sent to the Central Prison Bellary as per the direction of the District Magistrate.

Now, the Advisory Board that was constituted as per sub section (1) of section 9 of the Act has confirmed the order of the District Magistrate and has approved for his detention in Central Prison Bellary as an ordinary prisoner for 12 months from the date of his detention.

Before passing this order, the Advisory Board consisting of three serving Judges of the Karnataka High Court had conducted a sitting on June 5 at Bangalore for which the detainee was also called and heard in person.
