Mandya, Jul 4: Vehicular movement to and from the City of Palaces was affected for more than one hour on Tuesday following Road Blockade on Mysore-Bangalore highway by Sugarcane growers demanding the Karnataka government to fix higher price for the Sugarcane supplied to sugar factories.

The agitators, led by Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha president K S Puttanniah, demanded Rs 1250 per tonne against Rs 1100 per ton fixed by the Government.

Puttanniah said that the price fixed by the State government was unscientific and threatened to intensify agitation if the price was not hiked.

The agitators had blocked the highway from Srirangapatana to Maddur.
