Daijiworld News Network - Puttur (GA)

Puttur, Jul 6: Only a day ago these columns carried news of murder of a 72-year-old woman by her grandson over a property dispute.  Now barely within 24 hours one more such incident has been reported from Puccheri near Nelyadi here.

One Hukra Mugera (38) was stabbed to death by his relatives Varija and Pijina at Puccheri on Wednesday July 5 night.  It is said that even Varija and Pijina too have sustained injuries and are admitted to a hospital here.

Deceased Hukra and accused Varija and Pijina are from same community.  They were living in a same colony at Puccheri.  However, they had a dispute over a jackfruit tree which was on the border of their property.

They had a fight about the same a week ago. However, the issue was calmed down later.  But on Wednesday night, once again the families began fighting after Varija objected Hukra from picking a fallen jackfruit.  Pijina too joined with her.  Soon they were up in arms.  Meanwhile, Pijina and Varija attacked Hukra with a sickle as a result of which the latter died on the spot.

The senior police officials immediately reached the spot and took control of the situation.  Hukra's body was brought to Uppinangady for autopsy.  The Uppinangady police have booked a case in this regard.
