New Delhi, May 27 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi Tuesday paid tribute to late prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru on his 50th death anniversary.

"I pay my tributes to our 1st Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on his Punya Tithi," Modi tweeted.

Modi took oath as India's 14th Prime Minister at an impressive ceremony Monday.

Jawaharlal Nehru served as India's first prime minister from 1947 till his death in 1964.
