New Delhi, May 27 (IANS): Automobile manufacturer General Motors India Tuesday said it will start exporting hatchback car Beat from the first quarter of next year to Chile.
According to the company, it will commence the production of the export variant of the hatchback at its Talegaon plant in Maharashtra in the second half of 2014.
"The start of Beat exports underlines GM's commitment to India and demonstrates the quality of the country's growing supplier base," said GM India president and managing director Arvind Saxena.
"The exports will create more employment opportunities within GM India and the supplier community while helping improve capacity utilization at the Talegaon plant."
The company said the first export model will be the left-hand-drive version of the Chevrolet Beat.
The vehicle is available with petrol and diesel engines and was first introduced in India in 2010.
