Centre forms SIT on black money

New Delhi, May 27 (PTI): In the first decision after assuming office, the Narendra Modi government today constituted a special investigative team (SIT) to unearth black money.

The SIT will be headed by former Supreme Court judge M B Shah and will include Revenue Secretary, CBI and IB directors, Enforcement Directorate official, CBDT Chairman and RBI deputy governor. Former Supreme Court judge Arijit Pasayat will be the vice-chairman of the panel.

The Supreme Court had last week granted the government one week to constitute the SIT for monitoring of all black money cases.

"In the first Cabinet of the new government...in the light of the directions of the SC, we have constituted an SIT for unearthing black money... This was an important issue for us," Law and Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad told reporters after a one-and-a-half-hour long Cabinet meeting.

Prasad said setting up of the SIT "indicates the commitment of the new government to pursue the issue of black money."

He said that earlier, the Supreme Court had given certain orders, but there were some delays.

"Tomorrow is the last date (for setting up of SIT), therefore the very first agenda in accordance with its policy commitment was to have this very high-profile SIT."

According to a press release, other members of the SIT are Director General of the Narcotics Control Bureau, Director General of Revenue Intelligence, Director of the Financial Intelligence Unit, Director of the Research and Analysis Wing and a Joint Secretary in the Central Board of Direct Taxes.

It stated that the SIT has been charged with the responsibility and duties of investigation, initiation of proceedings and prosecution in cases of Hasan Ali and other matters involving unaccounted money.

The panel will have jurisdiction in cases where investigations have commenced, are pending, are awaiting to be initiated or have been completed.

The SIT will prepare a comprehensive action plan, including creation of an institutional structure that could enable the country to fight the battle against unaccounted money. It should report on the status of its work to the court from time to time, the statement added.

I quote one comment from Justice for all, USA:

Don't think the bigwigs in the SIT already know who has money in the secret accounts?

It will be a pick and choose operation to satisfy the court and fool the general public. It will drag on for at least another 5 years until the next election.

India should outsource the tracing of black money to the FBI of USA on commission basis. Then only one can see the real results quickly.

Does these legislators have any guts to do that? Unquote.

Will they catch Nalin Kumar kateel for disclosing his flat’s value in the purchased rate.
Will they catch ambani, adani, Tatas, Birlas, Godrej for swindling huge amounts in tenders.
Will they catch THE M.P.’S WHO ARE PRESENTLY IN THE PARLIAMENT AND OUTSIDE OF THE PARLIAMENT/!

DO MODI THE PUPPY LOVE HAS GUTS?!

Before when congresss Govt.in the centre, swiss govt.was hellbent on publishing the names of indian black money depositors and Cong.govt.was not ready to accept the names and again our honourable Congi.Govt.had a confidentiality agreement with supreme court so as not to disclose the names of the depositors....! And And now what will happen is: read below
Indian BJP.Govt.is not only ready to bring the black money back but already expedited the process of it. Remember...voted for the purpose...!Offo...! now Swiss Govt.will be bound by their law...and they can not disclose the depositors names...!Both German and Swiss Govt's will not co operate with the Indian BJP Govt...!. Now BJP leadership will affirm to the voters that they will try their best in spite of obstacles and they will try for another 5 years same like what Cong. Govt.did..!

They did so many good works starting from Mumbai Blasts to Gujarat riots but our Political Parties are not interested to take action because of backlash. They do their excellent job as usual but few Political Parties willing to accept the report in case its favour them other Political Parties will not accept the report if it is not favoring them. In this case too, it will be same like unless NaMo put his foot down

First of all define black money ? why are you targeting money in foreign accounts , start with home grown builders who ask cash instead of cheque to book flats , then target foreign accounts , I would like to know who are those idiots still parking their money abroad after knowing SIT investigation has started when one click of internet banking can transfer the funds elsewhere , and further what about celebrities buying properties in dubai which also constitutes black money since that money is not taxed in india . and moreover ask VHP what happened to more than 100 crores collected in the name of ram mandir decades ago ? start cleaning the house then the state then the country and then the world . Fooling people in the name of investigation should stop and any investigation should be done without publicity which allows criminals to think of ways to escape .

SIT gives only list of Black money holder and the amount which might takes nearly 1-2 years.
Next step prove that money which in foreign banks is illegal one , Investigate source of money and register FIR , Court case etc which takes nearly 2-3 years or more.
Final one , request those foreign Bank or countries to return the Black money.

Idea is good… but I have little doubt about SIT working culture…. They will seek extension of time for one or two more years to complete the investigation…. And finally they will submit the reports in 2,000 to 3,000 pages…. And again our Government will form a Committee to study the report….. Finally it will come to Parliament to discuss and adopt the measures…. And then the NaTaK starts by accusing or blaming each other…… I think nobody has been convicted based on the SIT investigation so far….. Instead our New Government should that black money deposited by any Indian can be withdrawn by Swiss Bank upon confirmation by the Indian Government that it is indeed black money

Black money is a complicated issue. We have to be practical.
Government should give amnesty to the black oney holders for a certain period of time to bring it into indian economy and change it to white. This will boost the indian economy.
Instead if they try to dig the history of black money and to catch the culprits,it will not happen in our legal system and the cases will be dragged to another 50 years without any results.

There are 4 classes of students in our schools. Distinction class, who become doctors, engineers and scientists. First class, who become IAS, IFS, IRS and IPS and other officers, who control the former category people. Then other pass class students, who become politicians and control both these former 2. Lastly there are people who never went to school, school, college outs, holders of fake bachelor, masters and doctorate degree, who finally become black marketers, land mafia, smugglers, drug lords, fake scientists. These are the people who contribute heavily election funds and control all above category and politics.
This SIT is not voluntarily formed, but, by order of supreme court. Congress and BJP spent thousands of crores black money for election. We can very well judge what will be the final outcome. There were so many SITs in our life time. Final result is zero. It is just an exercise in futility.

Go to Udupi and find out second Vidhwaan was typist for TA Pai without completing his B.Com and had a goods tempo with a bank loan of Rs76,000 where its value was zero and had no money to pay installments of it...and was a bank defaulter...this in 1979...

Go to Mangalore and see third vidhwaan when he was deputy minister for finance in early eighties....how many nationalized banks had big loans given to which community and new branches were opened and who were building owners and which community they belong...
