Sudha 'Baa' Shivpuri on road to recovery

New Delhi, May 28 (IANS): Veteran actress Sudha Shivpuri, lovingly known as 'Baa' following her role in the hugely popular show "Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi", has been out of action for almost six months due to ill health. Now, the 75-year-old is recovering and wishes that her fans and colleagues pray for her well being.

The theatre, TV and film actress even spent over two months in a hospital in Mumbai.

On Dec 2, 2013, she suffered a stroke, which affected the lower brain and thus, her basic motor skills, her son informed IANS over the phone from Mumbai. She spent considerable time in the ICU during her hospital stay.

Now she is home, but unable to talk too much or clearly due to tracheostomy. But she was more than happy to answer queries via her son.

"I am recovering. Awaaz aana aur taakat aana baaki hai (My voice is not yet clear and I have yet to regain my strength)," her faint voice could be heard on the phone, before her son repeated it for us.

Her nutritional needs and exercise are being well taken care of, and she has been asked to avoid tea. With her family's support, health assistance and prayers of well wishers, the actress hopes to completely recover within the next two months.

Would she resume work on TV?

"Not full-fledgedly," said her son, and added: "Maybe a little here and there".
