Mangalore, Jul 9: Sixteen-year-old Dhanaraj, a student of St Agnes Special School has been selected to take part in the Special Olympics to be held at Beijing in October 2007.

He is a mentally challenged youth with an exceptional talent for skating and will has proved himself at the state and national level sports events.

Principal of the school Sr Shruthi said that Dhanaraj was one among the 13 students selected from India to take part in the Special Olympics.

He secured the first place in the state Special Olympics and second place in the national level skating championship held in 2002. Dhanjaya is also actively involved in the various extra curricular activities of the school. Apart from skating, he has also brought laurels to the school and the state in athletics and shot put.

Dhanjaya was trained by his teachers Narayan and skating coach Mahesh. Although from a poor family, the support given by his parents has been immense.
