Panaji, Jul 10: Goa chief minister Pratapsingh Rane on Monday informed state legislative assembly that 32 (thirty two) complaints were filed against renowned artist M F Hussain at various police stations in the state but no first information report (FOR) was lodged in these complaints.

Replying to a question tabled by leader of opposition Manohar Parrikar during the state legislative assembly session which began this afternoon, Rane said that complaints related to alleged insult of Hindu deities through his paintings of Hindu deities shown in various compromising positions with intent to hurt the Hindu sentiments.

Rane said that total 32 complaints including 23 from north district have been filed at the concerned police stations.
"Of these 30 cases have been transferred to crime branch for further action. However, no FIR in these complaints have been registered at any of the police station in Goa in view of the matter being sub judice before high court and supreme court," the chief minister has stated in his written reply.
