Panaji, Jul 10: Bailancho Saad, a women's organization, on Monday submitted memoranum to all the legislators, condemning state government's policy of liberalizing beer license in the state by paying license fees.

"As a representatives of the people of Goa in the legislative assembly, we call upon you to pay heed to the opposition of the women, children and public at large to the budget proposal of the government to sell beer and wine outside licensed bars in any shop," says memorandum submitted to legislators during the first day of legislative assembly session, on Monday.

Bailancho Saad chief Sabina Martins today said that such a policy decision is definitely not in the interest of the women and children. "On behalf of the women and children, we demand that the decision to sell alcohol outside bars be revoked," Martins said.

The organization has said that the decision will lead to easy access to alcohol to children and adults hence further aggravating alcohol related problems such as alcoholism, violence in the family, economic destitution, accidents and other health problems.

Bailancho Saad has also demanded withdrawal of proposed reduction in the taxes on alcohol and stop alcohol promotion through various events.
