Suspended Trinamool MP Ghosh alleges police harassment

Kolkata, May 31 (IANS): Suspended Trinamool Congress MP Kunal Ghosh, now behind bars for his alleged complicity in the Saradha scam, Saturday accused the West Bengal Police of harassing him and bringing fresh cases against him despite the CBI taking over the probe in the matter.

Facing prosecution in several cases related to the scam, Ghosh, who was arrested November 2013, said he has many things to reveal that might help in investigation of the scam but the state police have not been allowing to speak and instead harassing him by registering new cases against him.

"Police have registered yet another case against me May 17, days after the probe in the Saradha scam was handed over to the CBI. This is nothing but an attempt to harass me," Ghosh said while being produced before a court in Jalpaiguri.

The Supreme Court May 9 directed the Central Bureau of Investigation to probe the multi-crore rupee scam.

Ghosh, who headed Saradha's media arm and has repeatedly alleged involvement of several of his party leaders in the scam, said he was not questioned by police even though he had "many things to say" about the scam.

He had recently written a letter to the Enforcement Directorate also probing the scam, expressing apprehension of his life and urged the agency to interrogate several powerful politicians involved in the scam.
