Mangalore, Jul 10: A house belonging to Premnath Kudva in Matadakani Road III Cross was broken into by thieves on Sunday evening.

The house-owners were away for just two hours. During this time, the miscreants appear to have removed the airconditioner of one of the rooms and got into the house. Cash and valuables including gold and silver jewellery and Rs 4,000 in cash have been carried away.

It is the second instance of its kind in which the thieves used the method of removing the airconditioner to break into the building. In the earlier instance, a mobile phone shop on MG Road was looted in a similar way.

Barke police are investigating the matter.
