Snatcher sends Facebook friend request to victim, held

Washington, June 2 (IANS): This news comes straight from Ripley's Believe It or Not. An accidental Facebook friend request from a bag snatcher to the women whose bag he stole has sent him behind bars in the US.

Riley Mullins, 28, accused of stealing a woman's purse was held after he befriended the woman on Facebook.

Shocked, the woman identified Mullins from a distinctive triangle tattoo on his arm and informed police.

According to the woman, Mullins must have found her name from an ID card in her purse, a report in Washington-based newspaper Kitsap Sun said.

Mullins, now being dubbed as 'dumb' by Facebook users, allegedly stole the purse and ipod from the woman at a ferry terminal.

"When she saw the picture of the suspect, she immediately recognised him as the person who assaulted her and robbed her," police officials said.
