Extra World Cup tickets on sale

Rio de Janeiro, June 2 (IANS): Fans will have their last chance to buy 2014 World Cup tickets Wednesday when football's governing body FIFA offers an extra batch for all 64 matches.

In a statement Sunday, FIFA said tickets will be available on its official website at a yet-to-be-confirmed time, reports Xinhua.

"As promised, we are happy that we are able to make more tickets available to fans and we believe that these tickets will be in high demand," FIFA marketing director Thierry Weill said.

"Therefore to avoid disappointing fans who might decide to queue for these tickets and to ensure that fans worldwide can apply, we are making the tickets available exclusively online."

According to FIFA, more than 2.75 million tickets have already been sold for the June 12-July 13 event.
