Udupi, Jul 11: Konkan Railway Corporation has finally decided to initiate pre-paid rickshaw and taxi system on Konkan railway stations.
This was announced in a joint press release by Udupi Railway Passengers' Association president Krishnanad Kamath and advisor R L Dias.
The association had been demanding for the pre-paid rickshaw and taxi system for the last 3 years.
The corporation has allotted 16 square feet counter at the Konkan railway station here. The corporation has already called for a tender to run the counter.
Tender form could be availed from station master on or before Monday July 31. The last date to submit the tender is 1.30 pm on Tuesday August 1. The tender will be announced at 3.30 pm on the same day.
The auto and taxi fare will be decided by the RTO and the contractor is bound to run the counter as per the rules and regulations laid down by Konkan Railway Corporation. The contractor is also supposed to pay certain regular expenses such as water and electricity bills etc.
