Seven killed in Libya clashes


Tripoli, June 2 (IANS): At least seven people were killed Monday in clashes that erupted in Benghazi between Libyan army troops and Islamist armed groups, an official said.

Islamist militant groups February 17 Brigade and Ansar al-Sharia jointly attacked the base of Libyan Special Forces 21 Battalion, which sided with renegade general Khalifa Haftar, the official told Xinhua.

Sources from the Benghazi Medical Centre said the victims include six soldiers and one civilian.
