Modi meets ministers, stresses efficient governance

New Delhi, June 2 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi Monday met members of his council of ministers and is understood to have laid thrust on good and efficient governance and time-bound implementation of programmes and tasks undertaken by the government.

In the marathon meeting that lasted for over three hours, ministers are also understood to have given their inputs and suggestions for inclusion in the address of President Pranab Mukherjee to the joint session of two houses of parliament.

The president's address lists priorities of the government.

The first session of the 16th Lok Sabha will commence June 4.

The discussions are believed to have also dwelled on the proposed 100-days agenda of each ministry.

The Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance government is apparently keen that its first 100-day agenda is better than that of the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government.

Modi is also understood to have sought suggestions on ways to improve governance.

The meeting took place against the backdrop of the government's 10-point agenda which talks of increasing investment and completing infrastructure projects in a time-bound manner.

All members of the council of ministers were invited for the meeting, but officials said there was no prepared agenda.
