Udupi: Deviprasad Shetty to be awarded doctorate

Udupi, Jun 4: Deviprasad Shetty, the district JD(S) president will be awarded a doctorate for his sincere service in the rural area. The honorary doctorate will be awarded from Colombo Almat University, Sri Lanka for his consecutive service.

He took up the administration of Belapu panchayat in 1998. He has been rendering his service from past eight years in the civil committee, Belapu village panchayat and is the president of Belapu cooperative bank for the sixth time.


He has been in the forefront fighting against the projects like Nagarjuna, Kojentriks, UPCL, NTPC and raw oil project of Padur.

The information about Belapu village is included in the textbooks of fifth and eighth standards. 

The award ceremony will be held on Saturday June 7 at Kaulalumpur, Malaysia.

Deviprasad Shetty expressed his happiness and said that the credit should be given to the people of Belapu. He added that the news was a surprise to him.
