PM interacts with members after house is adjourned


New Delhi, June 6 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi's proactiveness as leader of his party in the Lok Sabha was visible Friday when he spent nearly 15 minutes talking to fellow MPs and ministers even after the house was adjourned.

As soon as Speaker Sumitra Mahajan adjourned the house after completion of the day's business at 1 p.m. and MPs started filtering out of the house, Modi called Minister of Food Processing Harsimrat Kaur Badal and was seen discussing something animatedly with her.

With Home Minister Rajnath Singh also joining in the conversation, the issue was possibly the violence within the Golden Temple complex in Amritsar Friday morning, which left seven people injured. Badal is the Lok Sabha member from Bathinda in Punjab.

Soon, Mirzapur MP Anupriya Patel of the Apna Dal, an ally of the BJP, walked up to the prime minister and the two had a conversation for about five minutes.

BJP MP from Chandigarh, Kirron Kher was next. Clad in a white sari with a purple border, she walked up to Modi and greeted him. He was seen speaking to her at length.

Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Ramvilas Paswan was among the ministers who talked to the prime minister in the house.

In fact, Modi was one of the last members to troop out of the house and even as he went, the prime minister was seen greeting and talking to fellow MPs.
