Egypt sentences 10 Brotherhood members to death

Cairo, June 7 (IANS): An Egyptian court Saturday sentenced ten Muslim Brotherhood members to death over the charges of inciting violence and murder after the ouster of former President Mohamed Morsi last July, the media reported.

On June 3, 28 Muslim Brotherhood members were sentenced to life imprisonment, Xinhua reported.

Since Morsi's ouster, hundreds of his supporters have been arrested and given jail terms or death sentences.

In March, a court in the southern city of Minya sentenced to death 529 supporters of the ousted president.

In April, the same court handed the death penalty to 683 Morsi backers in another mass trial that caused a huge international outrage.
