Luxury barber shop Truefitt & Hill now in India

Mumbai, June 7 (IANS): Britain-based Truefitt & Hill, one the oldest barber shops in the world, opened its first door in India here with a promise to introduce a new level of indulgence for the metrosexual man.

The store's history began in 1805 during the reign of King George III. Its first store in India has opened at Khar, Linking Road, here.

Krishna Gupta, managing director of Lloyds Luxuries, the company that has acquired the master franchise license for India, Vietnam, Burma, Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Sri Lanka from Truefitt & Hill. Ltd, will represent the brand here.

"I take pride in representing Truefitt & Hill, a barber shop with inimitable expertise and legacy of many decades. I am confident of this venture to be a successful one as I see an unexplored territory in men’s grooming,” Gupta said in a statement.

“Also we are the oldest barber shop, so we do come with some trust and goodwill backing our name,” added Gupta.

Apart from London, they also have luxe barber shops in Singapore, Chicago, Las Vegas, Canada, China and Malaysia.

Truefitt & Hill specializes in men’s grooming services. Its elite clientele has included Oscar Wilde, Charles Dickens, Lord Byron, Frank Sinatra, Winston Churchill, Alfred Hitchcock and Laurence Olivier.

In India, the store will offer "services and facilities which will be at par with global standards with experienced and well trained staff", said Istayak Ansari, director, Lloyds Luxuries Ltd.
