New Delhi, Jun 8 (Agencies) : For all those who aspire to own a timepiece, that too Rolex, this was an opportunity that many would want to come their way. And a paanwaala had a clincher of a deal when he got a Rolex watch, worth Rs 17 lakhs for a pittance of just 100 berks. As per a report in a local daily, minor thieves broke into the house of a UP leader in the Gomti Nagar area of capital Lucknow. According to the report, the leader, Piyush Mishra, a Congress leader, was not a frequent visitor in his house at the Nehru Enclave.
Knowing this, the kids, in the age group of 12-15 years, broke into the house and got away with the watch, camera and valuables. Not knowing of the value of the watch, they sold it to a paanwala for just Rs 100. The thieves stole another watch worth Rs 12 lakhs and sold it to a junkyard owner for possibly a similar price. They, however, were spotted by a local resident while trying to break into another house. The thieves have been arrested by the police and sent to a child correction centre.
