Panaji, Jul 14: Goa will soon have another international cricket stadium which is planned in North Goa, state sports minister Pandurang Madkaikar told the state legislative assembly on Thursday.
"Goa state infrastructure development corporation (GSIDC) and Goa Cricket Association (GCA) are willing to spend money on the construction of the stadium.. they won't mind even spending Rs 50 crores on the project," the sports minister announced Thursday afternoon.
Replying to a question on the floor of the house, the sports minister admitted that there was no (no) budgetary provision for the construction of stadium but the agencies like GSIDC and GCA are willing to chip in financially for the project.
"Recently, we successfully held an international cricket match and after that expectations about Goa has increased," the minister said.
The minister said that land acquisition procedure has already started and an amount of Rs 48 lakh has been already deposited with state-government run economic development corporation (EDC).
