Government will ensure clean, pristine Ganga: President


New Delhi, June 9 (IANS): The government will work to clean the Ganga river, and ensure perennial flow in the river, President Pranab Mukherjee said Monday.

"My government will take all steps to ensure perennial, clean, pristine Ganga," the president said while addressing the joint session of both houses of parliament. 

The president said the Ganga is a symbol of faith of Indians. 

Mukherjee also said that conservation of the Himalayas is also a priority area.
