Taliban key commander arrested in Afghanistan


Kabul, June 10 (IANS): Afghanistan's National Directorate for Security (NDS) captured a Taliban key commander in Kandahar, media reported Tuesday.

"Acting upon intelligence report, the personnel of NDS have arrested Taliban key commander Atta Mohammad nicknamed Hajji Tafsir from Maiwand district," Xinhua quoted an NDS statement as saying.

The statement said that Hajji Tafsir planned to disrupt the presidential runoff set for June 14.
