Gas leakage kills 10 in China mine


Beijing, June 11 (IANS): At least 10 people were confirmed dead after a gas outburst occurred in a coal mine in China's Guizhou province early Wednesday.

Authorities in Liupanshui City said that 130 miners were working underground at the coal mine when the gas outburst happened minutes after midnight. Of them, 120 managed to escape, Xinhua reported.

By 5.20 a.m., rescuers had retrieved all bodies of 10 victims from the mine pit.
