Mumbai, June 11: Senior journalist Malar Jayaram Rai has said that newspapers are the eyes of society, journalists should be concerned about this and work to uplift the society. He was speaking after inaugurating the new office of Manjeshwar press club here.

"The work of journalists to highlight the drawbacks in society and it is praiseworthy. It is pleasing to see young journalists joining the
field," he said.


Manjeshwar MLA P B Abdul Razak who spoke after inaugurating the programme and said that modern newspapers are publishing faulty news.

Mangalpady Panchayat president Aishat Tahira, Paivalike panchayat president Manikanta Rai, Traders Vyavasayi Ekopana Samithi secretary B Mohammed, Varkady grama panchayat president Sunitha Vasanth, Manjeshwar church parish priest Fr Valerian Louis, different party leaders DMK Mohammed, B V Rajan, K R Jayananda, journalists Hanis Uppala, Ravi Pratapnagar, Saibadra Rai, Jagadish, Salam Varkady, Ratan Kumar and others were present.

The secretary of the press club Arif Machampady welcomed the gathering and Rajesh Daddangady proposed the vote of thanks.
