Panaji, Jul 17: The non resident Goans (NRGs) staying abroad would be able to air their grievances to the state government through a special cell headed by a former bureaucrat, NRI commissioner Eduardo Faleiro said on Monday.

"Director NRI affairs who is also managing director overseas recruitment agency will deal with individual grievances of NRGs," Faleiro stated while announcing the formation of special cell.

Former tourism director, a retired Goa civil service officer, U D Kamat, was on Monday announced as the director of this cell.

Briefing reporters, Faleiro also stated that a special conference on NRGs and family values would be held on July 22 in Goa.

"Emigrants often feel that their separation affects their family life. This is a problem faced not just by emigrants but by the society as a whole nowadays. The rapid pace of social change marked by a swift growth of consumerism, resulting in a fiercely competitive lifestyle, threatens family stability,"  Faleiro said.
