Congress leaders detained in Delhi


New Delhi, June 14 (IANS): Congress Delhi chief Arvinder Singh Lovely and other party leaders were detained Saturday for protesting against power outages and water scarcity in the national capital, police said.

Many Congress workers led by Lovely, Sajjan Kumar and Mukesh Sharma staged a demonstration in west Delhi's Nangloi area as the party continued its protest against power outages and water scarcity in Delhi.

Water cannons were used to disperse a mob of protestors who tried to break police barricades.

The Congress has been protesting in different parts of the city against inconsistent power and water supply for the past few days.
