Mangalore: Residents rescued due to dangers of sea erosion

Mangalore, June 15: High intensity of sea erosion has put the residents of Ullal Kaiko, Hilariya nagar, Rifaiya Nagar under threat. 

Nearly 18 houses are under the threat of collapsing. The local youth team has rescued 100 people from 18 houses by shifting them to a nearby godown.


30 members from Asmath Sikhandar's family, five from Shenabhanu Abdul Razak's family, five from  Bifathima  Ismail's family, seven from   Mariamma Rahim family, five from Thahira Abdul Salim's family, 15 from Bifathima Abubakar's family, six from Athimolu Ibrahim's family and the others from Kaiko: Idinabba Bifathima, Cheriya Monu, Mariamma, Samir Ummayabanu, Khalil Nasima, Husainabba Duleha, Ismail Ramlath, Zubaira Nasima, Idinabba, Sharif Salim, Iqbal Maimoona family were shifted.

"There is no response from the representatives and officers. No one is there to listen to our plight. It is enough of providing assurance; minister U T Khader has been to Umraha, hence the Chief minister should immediately respond to this," said U T Khalil.

"There is a high intensity sea erosion and we were assured of being provided with compensation but have not yet received it. No one has solved this problem. There are small kids and have no food to eat. Children and women are living in fear," said Fayaz.
