Delhi jeweller shot at during robbery bid


New Delhi, June 15 (IANS): A 49-year-old jeweller was shot at by two bike-borne assailants here Sunday when he resisted their attempt to snatch his bag containing jewellery and cash, police said.

The incident took place at around 3 p.m. in central Delhi's Karol Bagh area. A bullet pierced the left side of Sanjay Garg's chest, police said.

"The robbers tried to snatch Garg's bag. When he resisted, they fired at him. The robbers failed to snatch the bag, containing some jewellery and cash, and fled from the spot," said a police official.

Garg, a resident of Shalimar Bagh in north Delhi, was admitted to hospital, where his condition is stated to be critical.
