Mangalore, Jul 20: The Regional Transport Authority (RTA) has decided to consider the revision of bus fares within a period of three days. This was informed by RTA chairman and Deputy Commissioner M Maheshwara Rao on Wednesday, Jul 20.

Speaking at a meeting participated by the bus owners and the public at the DC’s office, Rao said after considering the ground realities which prominently include the recent hike in fuel prices, the revision will be made. He also called the bus owners to follow safety norms while driving the buses and to chalk out a plan for road safety.

President of the Canara Bus Owners' Association Rajavarma Ballal, president of the Dakshina Kannada Bus Owners' Association Bhaskar Salian, superintendent of police Dakshina Kannada B Dayananda, president of the Nagarika Hitharakshana Samiti Hanumanth Kamath and RTO Ramesh were also present.

In another meeting with the auto rickshaw drivers the DC also assured to reconsider the revision of fares. However the auto rickshaw drivers have asked for a hike up to one-and-a-half times higher than the present rate.
