After visiting Kaiko, Hilleria Nagar, Uchchila and other places, he interacted with distressed people who have been sheltered in the temporary gruel centre set up near Kaiko. He said that tender process for providing permanent relief against sea erosion has already been set rolling, and the work will begin once administrative sanction is received. He expressed the hope that once these works are completed in about two years time, everyone can live without fear.

He said that 18 families have been rendered shelter-less while 70 houses in Ullal are on the verge of collapse due to sea erosion. He promised to arrange disbursal of relief on behalf of the government to them at the earliest. He revealed that the district administration will be sanctioning a relief of Rs 70,000 to each of the families which have lose their houses.

Although he spoke to the aged mother of Chandrashekhar, he did not dole out any assurances to the family. Questioning the apathy of the minister in not giving any concrete assurances to this particular family, vice president of Someshwar panchayat, Rajesh Uchchil, wanted to know whether the minister's visit was an eyewash.

The minister was accompanied by district deputy commissioner, P Ibrahim, municipal president, Girija M Bai, and municipal councillors, Muhammed Mukkacheri, Farooq Ullal, and Ullal block Congress president, Eshwar Ullal.
