Tram hits nine cars in Kolkata, no one injured

Kolkata, June 19 (IANS): Triggering panic on the road, a tram without a driver suddenly started moving and struck nine vehicles parked on the tram tracks in south Kolkata's Ballygunge area Thursday, police said.

Police said the tram - stalled on the track as there was no overhead power - started rolling automatically as electric supply was restored. It hit nine cars one after another, but no one was injured.

However, there was widespread panic as pedestrians started running helter-skelter.
