Karunanidhi objects to Centre's directive on Hindi

Chennai, June 19 (IANS): DMK president M. Karunanidhi Thursday opposed the central government's directive to its employees and employees of other government undertakings to give preference to the use of Hindi language in social media.

In a statement issued here, Karunanidhi said such an official directive contrary to an individual's wish is the beginning of imposition of Hindi.

He was referring to a news report that the central government has directed its employees and employees of central undertakings and banks to use Hindi or both Hindi and English on their official web pages in social media like Twitter, blogs, YouTube, Facebook and Google.

Karunanidhi said giving prominence to Hindi alone without treating all the languages listed in the 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitution equally is the first step in making non-Hindi speaking people second class citizens.

Karunanidhi said people expect Prime Minister Narendra Modi to focus on taking forward the economy and work towards social upliftment.

Hindi is also our language consider like that. because in India almost more than 600 languages are there as
    official and unofficial.

In how many states Hindi speaking in India ?And this is the mistake of the leaders after independence and someone might have more interest to use Hindi as National language and at that time it is possible.

    And after independence one thing
is true that much importance was not given to south India and even a good cabinet rank was also rare.
Anyway we don't have to cry or force to use any language because
English is a must for people now for their living and a question is
in their mind is that any language
in India can help people to get a job or any thing ??

    so forget about language dispute
in the modern world and why Indians and how work in the different parts of world only because of learning English and not Hindi and its importance is an
    Indian language only.

It seems a dictatorial fashion may
come in them attar of language and finally people decide the ultimatum..

It seems like, Mr. Modi is not concerned with the economic issues of India but getting into other things which will create many unnecessary reverberations. Mr. Modi never hinted this intention in his political campaigns now from nowhere, Hindi came down. He may be dedicated to take off English and to establish Hindi gradually as the national language.

This is your bread and butter. This will not give you life. Keep your identity as Tamil but why oppose Hindi?

Sir: language-religion-food-clothing etc are the personal choice of every individual. If I did study Hindi, it could have helped me in my business. India is a country with 20 official languages and over 1000 dialects. Is there any problem now in the civil administration? Enforcing Hindi language will start unnecessary split in between the States where Hindi is spoken and other languages are spoken.
