Canadian police combat child porn

Ottawa, June 20 (IANS): More than 150 people have been were arrested by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in an attempt to combat child pornography.

Operation Snapshot III targeted online predators exploiting children by possessing, sharing and distributing images of sexual abuse, Xinhua reported.

Hundreds of computers, hard disk drives and nearly 2 million images along with videos were seized during the operation.

"These images were not simply children having a bubble bath, they clearly show children in situations where they're being sexually assaulted," an RCMP official said Thursday.

The operation has led to the rescue of five children.
