Soldier injured in Poonch mine blast


Jammu, June 20 (IANS): A soldier was injured Friday in a landmine explosion in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district, an army official said.

"A jawan (soldier), who was part of a routine patrol in general area Poonch, accidentally stepped on a mine and sustained injury," defence spokesman Col. Manish Mehta told IANS here.

The incident happened around 11 a.m.

"The injured jawan was evacuated to base hospital in Srinagar and was reportedly stable," he said, adding the soldier belonged to the Saujiyan battalion of the 25th Division.
