Mumbai, Jul 22: The Bombay High Court on Friday rejected the bail plea of former joint commissioner of police Sridhar Wagal, an accused in the multi-crore rupee fake stamp paper case involving Abdul Karim Telgi.
Justice V M Kanade rejected Wagal's bail on the ground that there was prima facie evidence to show his complicity in the racket.
Wagal, arrested in 2003, has been treated for circulatory disorder at Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai for the past two years.
He has been charged with participating in a conspiracy to help Telgi in circulating the counterfeit stamp papers.
Wagal is also charged with accepting money from Telgi through assistant inspector Dilip Kamat, a charge he has denied.
