Mumbai, July 24: In an interesting turn of affairs, Mallika Sherawat - the sexy actress known for her bare-it-all stance, will soon be seen as the girl-next-door in Pritish Nandy Communications’ ‘Pyaar Ke Side Effects’. And the man selected by producer Rangita Nandy for this mega makeover is designer Ashley Rebello.

“Rangita wanted Mallika to look simple, but very sexy,” reveals Ashley.  Next, director Saket Chaudhary asked him to go through the script. “Nothing over the top was what he said. I quite understood what they were looking for.”

Mallika trusted Rebello implicitly, “She told me, ‘Since you’ve understood the look, I really don’t want to give you a brief and I look forward to the new look.’” To Mallika’s surprise, Ashley was bang on with what he had in mind. And that too without any trials, “Because I knew her measurements perfectly and didn’t really require trials,” he explains.

Of course, Mallika had some inputs too. “She gave me one or two of her tops saying that this was the kind of look that suits her and to try and work along those lines, which worked wonders,” he adds.

As for the final effect, “Making her look good in simple clothes was accomplished in ‘Pyaar Ke Side Effects’. We didn’t overdo anything and kept it all very minimal. It worked!”  The real test was when Ashley received compliments on the song, where Mallika looks lovely and approachable.

Ashley adds, “Mallika’s hair and make-up was very natural. Light blush, nude lips, it’s the fresh look which is actually called the unkissed look. The whole look is very, very real.” He concludes, “Here is the new Mallika.”
