Man held for posing as Delhi Police officer

New Delhi, June 24 (IANS): A 33-year-old man has been arrested for cheating people by posing as a Delhi Police officer and offering to provide them high-end mobile phones at low prices, police said Tuesday.

Ayub Khan, a resident of West Vinod Nagar, was arrested from Nehru Place Monday.

"Khan used to introduce himself as a Delhi Police official to the person whom he intended to cheat. He used to ensnare his target on the pretext of providing them high-end mobile phones and electronic gadgets at low prices," said Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Ashok Chand.

Khan used to call his targets to police stations having two exits.

"He used to meet his targets outside the police station gate and collect money from them. Asking them to wait for delivery of the phone, he escaped from the other exit gate of the police station," he said.

Police have found that Khan was involved in at least two such cases.
