AHMEDABAD, July 24: A standard VIII student in a Gujarat town died after his teacher beat him mercilessly for not being able to answer some questions.
 
According to the police, 14-year-old Pravin Pagi, a student of Viraniya Secondary School in Lunawada town of Panchmahals district, failed to answer the questions his teacher, Prafull Patel, asked him on Thursday.
 
Enraged, the teacher started beating Pravin with a cane. The boy went home limping.
 
The boy was taken to hospital two days later, where he succumbed to injuries.
 
His father, Ramesh Pagi, lodged a police complaint against the teacher at the Lunawada police station, 140 km from here
