Thiruvananthapuram, June 25 (IANS): The BJP's Kerala unit will next month begin a protest for the ouster of Governor Sheila Dikshit, a party leader said Wednesday
Speaking to reporters here after the state party leaders meeting, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state unit chief V. Muraleedharan said the first of the series of protests would be held in front of the governor's official residence here July 3.
"The situation has reached a stage where the Raj Bhavan here has been converted into a hideout by the governor whose involvement in the Commonwealth Games corruption scandal has been pointed out by the Lok Ayukta," said Muraleedharan.
"The only way out for her is for her to quit on her own. If she fails to do, then we will continue our protest and on July 7, protests would be held across all the 14 district headquarters," he added.
Muraleedharan also said that if necessary a state level delegation of party leaders will be going to Delhi to meet the prime minister, railway minister and the finance minister to brief them about the impact of the recent hike in railway charges.
With the BJP yet to open its account in the 140 member Kerala assembly and having no representation in either houses of the parliament, he said that one way of sending a BJP member from the state to Delhi is through an unanimous election of a party candidate by the rival fronts in the state, when a Rajya Sabha vacancy arises.
He also said that the party has, in principle, decided to proceed with an election petition against Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, who won from the Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha seat.
"The details will be made available at the earliest," said Muraleedharan.
