Five government employees killed in Andhra


Hyderabad, June 25 (IANS): Six people, including five government employees, were killed and two injured when a truck ran over them in Andhra Pradesh's Kurnool district Wednesday, police said.

The dead include two officials of the revenue department who were surveying an area to identify land for setting up an institution.

The accident took place near Nannur in Orvakal mandal of Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh.

A revenue inspector, three village employees and a local resident died on the spot. Orvakal tehsildar Sunita Bai, who was injured, died while being shifted to Hyderabad for treatment.

Two injured were shifted to Kurnool Government Hospital.

The speeding truck overturned after running over the government employees standing by the roadside. Police registered a case and began investigations.

District collector Sudershan Reddy and top police officials visited the accident site.
