No distinction between good, bad Taliban: Pakistani official

Islamabad, June 26 (IANS): Pakistan Prime Minister's Adviser on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz said that the security forces were conducting operations in North Waziristan against militants without any discrimination, a media report said Thursday.

Speaking at a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs Wednesday, Aziz presented the 'Strategic Vision of Pakistan's Foreign Policy', Dawn online reported.

"There is no distinction between good and bad Taliban and the military operation was being conducted across the board," he said.

Brushing aside some accusations that Pakistan was backing some Taliban groups, Aziz said: "No militant group is being backed by the government."

He said that peace would be restored in the country at the end of the military operation.
