New Delhi, Jun 26 (Zee News): Bharatiya Janata Party general secretary Amit Shah is close to be announced as the party president, the seat currently occupied by Rajnath Singh, who is now Home Minister in the Narendra Modi government.
The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh senior leadership met in Chittor, Rajasthan, on Wednesday to discuss the issue. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat's decision will be considered final.
Besides Shah, Bharatiya Janata Party general secretaries Jagat Prakash Nadda (Himachal Pradesh) and P Muralidhar Rao (Andhra Pradesh), and party leader Om Mathur (Rajasthan) were considered for the post.
Shah, 50, an accused in the Tulsiram Prajapati fake encounter case, is a close aide of Modi.
