85 killed in Afghanistan clashes


Kabul, June 26 (IANS): At least 70 militants and 15 police personnel were killed and over 100 injured during clashes in Afghanistan, an official said Thursday.

"In Helmand province's Naw Zad district, 70 militants and 15 policemen were killed during fighting since Wednesday," the official told Xinhua.

"Local Taliban leaders were among the dead," the official added.
